Politics and Me
I don’t normally blog about politics, but feel compelled to do so now. I’m not a political fanatic, but my political prowess is where it should be. Growing up, I used to always scan the news stations and newspapers to glean what I could about current events. The word “avid” would not have been a good choice to describe my interests in current events, especially politics, however, I did find some of what I skimmed over vaguely interesting.
At thirty-something, I’ve found that my interest in politics has increased. It’s not a drastic increase, but it’s a healthy one. It all started in 1992, when I started paying more attention to what went on around me, domestically and internationally. Now, I sometimes find myself enthralled by a political news segment or searching politics on the web. The internet is w-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l!
The upcoming election seems to have caught the attention of quite a few people, myself included, and caused more people to want to vote. The state of Virginia has posted a record number of registered voters in its history and I’m sure other cities will be seeing record numbers as well. The 2008 election has been getting more coverage, in my opinion, than the last presidential election. Almost every media source is filled with a plethora of information on each candidate made readily available for the public to devour. I’m happy to be able to feed my occasional hunger for politics when the need arises.
If someone doesn’t know who the presidential candidates are, they must be from another galaxy!
Here’s a clip of part of the last debate last night.
Just sharing my political interest.
